Even before discussing technology, the summer comfort of our residence relies on its historic structure. Built before 1750, the bastide boasts remarkably thick walls. These ancient stones act as a natural shield against the sun’s onslaught. This is what’s known as thermal lag: heat takes a considerable amount of time to pass through the masonry, thus preserving the interior coolness throughout the day. <\/p>

To enhance this traditional design, our four-year renovation incorporated high-performance, eco-friendly insulation solutions. The walls are protected by exterior insulation made of wood wool and cork panels, bio-based materials that allow the building to breathe. The entire structure is sealed with solid oak window frames fitted with double-glazed insulating glass. <\/p>
